Faculty Overview


Dr. Larry Belcher

Dr. Larry BelcherDr. Larry Belcher is currently Professor of Finance at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. Dr. Belcher also serves as the Chairman of the Finance Department and Director of the Roland and Sarah George Investments Institute at Stetson University. The George Institute sponsors and funds investment research and also houses the Roland George Investments Program. This is a student-managed investment portfolio that is currently valued at $2.3 million. The George program is arguably the most successful and one of the longest running student managed funds in the country, winning in eight international student managed fund competitions in the past eight years. Dr. Belcher also serves as the president of the Association of Student Managed Investment Programs, an association geared to the advancement of collegiate student-run investment programs.

Dr. Belcher has been recognized with five teaching awards at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including the School of Business Teacher of the Year. He has also been recognized three times for innovative curriculum projects at Stetson. Dr. Belcher has published research in academic journals like the Journal of Macroeconomics, the Journal of Economics and Finance, and Consumer Interests Annual and in other areas like Florida Trend magazine. He is a frequent commentator to both the Orlando Sentinel and Daytona Beach News-Journal. He has also provided commentary to the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Hartford Courant, the Wall Street Journal, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and University Business magazine.

Dr. Belcher earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from Hanover College in Hanover Indiana, a Master’s degree in Economics from Auburn University, and a Ph.D. in economics from Indiana University.




Michael Bitter, Ph.D., CPA

Michael Bitter, Ph.D., CPAMichael Bitter, Ph.D., CPA – He is a Professor of Accounting at Stetson. His degrees include a BBA from Stetson, a MAcc from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi. Dr. Bitter is a CPA and previously worked in public accounting with Ernst and Young. He has been very active in research and has numerous publications in journals such as Strategic Finance and The Accounting Educator’s Journal. He has also made numerous presentations at various professional conferences. He has been active in service to the profession as well as his community. Dr. Bitter has received numerous awards for his teaching and service, including the Golden Apple Award from Stetson University College of Law JD/MBA Program. The award is given to faculty who get the highest possible evaluations from students.




Vincent C. Brenner, Ph.D., CPA

Vincent C. Brenner, Ph.D., CPAVincent C. Brenner, Ph.D., CPA is the Beights Professor of Accounting at Stetson University. He received BS from Mt. Saint Mary’s College and his graduate degrees from Penn State. Dr. Brenner is the author of two textbooks and has published over fifty papers in a variety of academic and professional journals such as The Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, and The Journal of Accountancy. He has been active at the national level in organizations such as the American Institute of CPAs, the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Institute of Management Accountants and the American Accounting Association. In 1991, he received the International Educator of the Year award from the Institute of Internal Auditors. He served on the AICPA Board of Examiners for three years and for eight years as a Subject Matter Expert in financial accounting and reporting for the Uniform CPA Examination. Dr. Brenner has also served on Florida Institute of CPAs committees and was named the 2007Accounting Educator of the year. He has received numerous awards for teaching, research and service. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Riverside National Bank and serves on the Board’s Audit and Compliance Committees. He has worked as a consultant for both Exxon and Mobil, before they combined, as well as Amoco, Ethyl and the Louisiana Department of Revenue. He has also served as an expert witness in both federal and state courts.




Paul E. Dascher

Paul E. DascherPaul E. Dascher is Senior Professor of Accounting at Stetson University. He earned his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from The Pennsylvania State University and has served on the faculties of Penn State, Virginia Tech, Northeastern University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and Drexel University. His administrative experience exceeds 30 years and includes service as Dean at Drexel University and at Stetson University.

Paul is the author of over 100 articles and 20 textbooks in the fields of management accounting, financial accounting and accounting systems. He has been a national Vice President of the Institute of Managerial Accountants, President of Accountants for the Public Interest and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Independence Blue Cross. His involvement with AACSB International spans more than 25 years and included leadership of many committees and Secretary / Treasurer.




Monica M. Jeancola, CPA

Monica M. Jeancola, CPAMonica M. Jeancola, CPA – Mrs. Jeancola is a Lecturer at Stetson University and earned her BBA and MBA from Stetson. She is currently completing her Ph.D. at the University of Florida. She is a CPA who worked in public accounting with McGladrey and Pullen and also held a controller’s position in industry. She has been active in publishing including papers in The CPA Journal and the Journal of State Taxation. She has also presented numerous papers at professional meetings. Mrs. Jeancola is the recipient the Stetson School of Business Teaching Award and has been active service to the profession.

 





Patrick Knipe, CPA

Patrick Knipe, CPAPatrick Knipe, CPA– He earned his B.S. and MAcc at Stetson University. He is a CPA with and extensive career in public accounting. Mr. Knipe started his career with a small CPA firm and worked his way up to the managing partner of Coopers & Lybrand, a large international firm. During his time in practice he audited an wide variety of clients. He has extensive service to the profession and to his community. He has won numerous awards for his leadership and volunteer activities. He currently serves on the Board of Directors and chairs the Audit Committee of CCS Medical Holdings, Inc.

 





Judson P. Stryker, DBA, CPA

Judson P. Stryker, DBA, CPAJudson P. Stryker, DBA, CPA is the Eugene M Lynn Professor and Chairman of the Rinker Institute of Tax and Accountancy at Stetson University. He also serves as an Associate Dean of the School of Business and previously served as Vice President of Finance for the University. He earned a B.S at the University of Florida, an MBA at Stetson and his DBA at Mississippi State. He is a CPA who held various management level positions at General Electric. Dr. Stryker has been active in research and has published in journals such as Oil, Gas and Energy Quarterly, and The International Business and Economics Research Journal. He has been active in service to the profession and the local community. He is a previous recipient of the School of Business Teaching Award and the University’s Mentor of the Year Award. He currently serves on the Board and is Vice President of the Stetson Business School Foundation.
